Type G is a branding and design studio rooted in the California lifestyle.

We live it, breathe it and draw inspiration from the incredible diversity of this place — from the ocean to the mountains to the desert, and everything in between. It’s a visual language and way of life we know firsthand, and one we bring naturally into the brands we create.

Based in North County San Diego, we work with passionate local businesses and national brands to build distinctive identities with an authentic California perspective — bringing together the look, voice and vision that make each brand uniquely its own.

Type G was founded by Creative Director Mike Nelson in 2004.

Mike leads the creative and remains the primary client contact on every project, bringing in a trusted network of senior-level creatives as needed — photographers, strategists, copywriters, videographers, producers, developers and designers.

It gives us the flexibility to build the right team around each project while keeping the process personal, focused and collaborative.

We like working with passionate people who care deeply about what they’re building. When the chemistry is right, great things happen — strong ideas, meaningful brand stories and relationships that last well beyond the project.
